ASTM A204 Grade B plates and sheets are molybdenum-alloy steel with chemical composition Carbon (0.20-0.25%), Manganese (0.90% max), Phosphorus (0.035% max), Sulfur (0.035% max), Silicon (0.10-0.35%), and Molybdenum (0.45-0.60%). Plates of these show excellent mechanical properties with tensile strength of 515-690 MPa, minimum yield strength of 310 MPa, and minimum elongation of 17%. The feature of high resistance to heat, strength, and corrosion makes them popular in application in pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, and petrochemical industries for operations at high temperature.
