EN 24 plates and sheets are produced from a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel which is renowned for its high strength and toughness. The standard chemical analysis contains 0.36–0.44% carbon, 1.30–1.80% nickel, 0.90–1.40% chromium, and 0.20–0.35% molybdenum. These plates have high tensile strength of 850–1000 MPa and yield strength of about 680 MPa when heat treated properly. EN 24 possesses good fatigue life, satisfactory ductility, and high surface hardness in the condition of tempering. Its mechanical characteristics render it ideal for parts that are exposed to high stress and wear, particularly where reliability and performance upon impact are critical.
